By focusing fundraising dollars locally, Ag For Autism provides autism therapy and education opportunities in rural areas which might not otherwise be served.

The Generosity of the Agriculture Community

Ag For Autism is an allegiance of agriculture businesses dedicated to helping local children and families affected by autism. As a charitable, non-profit organization, section 501(c)(3), it was established in 2012 to bring together local agriculture-related businesses and other local companies to collect donations and hold fundraisers on an ongoing basis — the proceeds of which will be channeled to area autism education and therapy programs.

Locally Directed

The Ag For Autism team continues to be amazed by the generosity of the Agriculture community and related businesses. Grants made possible by Ag For Autism fundraisers are returned back to the local communities where the funds are raised. To date, most of the grants have been awarded to recipients across Northeast Arkansas. As awareness grows about the organization and its work in the autism community, opportuniies to expand our reach may enable us to raise money, provide grants and host events in new areas across the country.

Volunteer Based

In just a few short years, the Ag for Autism team has doubled its annual fundraising totals. This can be wholly credited to the hard work of our dedicated volunteers. Ag for Autism is “staffed” by a team of volunteers who give freely of their time to chair committees, staff events, provide professional services, solicit sponsorships and basically do whatever it takes to raise as many dollars as possible for a cause which touches us all.

Support Focused

Ag for Autism was founded after a team of caring individuals identified a local cause with which we were all familiar, autism. Our research showed that autism was an issue of growing concern and, more importantly, the therapies and services which could be of great benefit to those who need them are often unattainable or unaffordable. Ag for Autism aims to provide funding support through grants to individuals, families, organizations and entities in the autism community.

Why Autism

The range and severity of autism symptoms can vary widely. Common symptoms include difficulty with communication, difficulty with social interactions, obsessive interests, and repetitive behaviors. Early recognition of autism, as well as behavioral, educational, and family therapies may reduce symptoms and support development and learning.

Boys are four times more likely to have autism than girls.
About 40% of children with autism do not speak.
Autism greatly varies from child to child. No two are alike.
Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder.
Children with autism do progress - early intervention is key.
Autism is treatable, not a hopeless condition.

Because autism is a spectrum disorder, it can range from very mild to very severe and occur in all ethnic, socioeconomic and age groups. All children should be screened for developmental delays and disabilities during regular well-child doctor visits. Some children with autism appear normal before age 1 or 2 and then suddenly “regress” and lose language or social skills they had previously gained.
